Elonex has just revealed a plethora of tablet devices that are touted to go on sale in the UK, where they have been priced at affordable levels. We're talking about £99 to £159, and at those sticker prices, chances are pretty high that interest will be strong. The eTouch line will start from 5-inches in size, going all the way to 10-inches if you need something larger. Powered by the Google Android operating system, they might come across as cheap substitutes for the Apple iPad, but will utilize a widescreen display instead of the iPad’s 4:3 screen. Each purchase will come with keyboard docks to further enhance their functionality when attached. Verizon Wireless is slated to roll out the BlackBerry Curve 3G 9330 smartphone in charcoal gray and fuchsia shades, although an exact release date is still as elusive as an Elvis sighting. Carl Zeiss' Cinemizer head-mounted display has received a hardware upgrade in the form of OLED displays inside, which should further increase the image quality whenever you place them in front of your eyes. There is one major drawback about the Cinemizer though - we're talking about 640 x 480 resolution (VGA) which is by far and large not enough in this day and age. On the other hand, this model will also deliver greater compatibility with non-Apple devices, while making you look decent enough to hang out with even when you're wearing a pair. Knocking down a pedestrian is no laughing matter - and every single day, there will be a handful of pedestrians who are injured, or even worse, killed whenever a car runs into them. A bunch of Japanese researchers decided to do their bit in saving lives, that is by placing airbags on the outside of the car in order to protect people who walk around just in case there is an accident. Strangely, they have dubbed the system as iSave, where special body panels covered with inflatable membranes are touted to absorb the impact with a pedestrian, deflating rapidly after that to soften the blow. Now here's something worth looking into - a lightbulb that can be recharged. Currently on parade at IFA 2010, Magic Bulb from China has come up with an LED bulb which sips a mere 4 watts of power while delivering the equivalent amount of light as a 50W bulb. What makes it all the more special is its built-in rechargeable battery that will provide enough juice for the bulb to keep on going for another 3 hours just in case you experience a blackout. Should the power outage require you to evacuate from wherever you are, just unscrew the bulb and extend its neck to turn it into an impromptu flashlight. Coby's latest MID, the 810 model has been spotted at IFA 2010. The Coby MID810 will feature an 8-inch TFT display that has resistive touchscreen capability, not to mention the inclusion of buttons that has been built straight into the bezel located right below the screen itself - just like how many other Android smartphones are. Other hardware specifications include a built-in FM radio and a 1.3-megapixel camera. Slated for a release later on at an unspecified date, we are wary of Coby's offerings since many of them have been spotted at events like CES, but failed to materialize in the real world.
