Mankind seems to be rather busy trying to make every device on the planet tweet, and next up in the line of device to gain such abilities is Precious, a bike that has been configured to tweet details on the weather, hilliness of the terrain and speed while it's in operation. The device that controls the tweeting is capable of running for over 35 hours on a single charge, and will wake itself up every 5 minutes in order to check the readings on the bike and submit said data. The rider is also capable of manually hitting a button on the handlebars to make the device report the data. Check out a video of Precious after the jump. 5.8.2010 17:14 · více o článku · velomini folding electric bicycle
Folding bicycles we know, but electric-powered ones? The VeloMini fits such a description, being a light-weight folding electric bike that comes with a 180 watt brushless hub motor which will be able to move you around at a top speed of 12mph, and whenever you prefer to use your two legs to walk, you can always fold it down to a compact 18" tall form factor which will be able to fit into a case that is no larger than a regular guitar case. What powers the VeloMini? It will have a 24v, 6AH lithium-ion battery which takes around 3 hours of direct connection to a power outlet to juice itself up, and riders can choose from standard pedal power, playing with a throttle like a moped or rely on the pedal assist mode to amplify the pedaling power of the rider. Carrying it around will help you develop muscles as well, since it tips the scales at 14kg. The VeloMini will appeal to those with a heart for the environment, but the $995 price point could prove to be a hurdle for some. Could the Wheel Driver be the motorcycle of the future? After all, it does look pretty dangerous to ride in (unless you're General Grievous with multi-limbed capability and lighting fast reflexes), but we're guessing that this concept, should it actually be realized, could well be safer compared to what we have today for our two-wheelers. Created by none other than a Japanese, Yuji Fujimura, the Wheel Driver will seat the "rider" in the wheel itself, which offers him/her more protection that what a traditional bike can. 13.11.2009 17:08 · více o článku · cool rider cooler than segway
The Cool Rider certainly doesn’t look anything like a Segway, but it probably would fall into the personal transportable category of vehicles. Armed with a battery powered motor capable of hitting 12mph, the Cool Rider isn’t too much of a slouch, especially since it has enough juice in it to run for about an hour on a full charge. It battery pack itself is removable, as in the standing sled at the back. This means that you could detect the standing sled, and just use the front portion of it to pull you along while you’re on some roller skates. It’s a tad pricey at $1250, but it’s also certainly a lot cheaper than a Segway. Permalink: Cool Rider Cooler Than Segway? from Ubergizmo | Hot: Motorola Droid Review více

4.9.2009 22:14 · více o článku · dahon biologic freecharge juices devices pedal power
Dahon has released their latest bicycle accessory, the BioLogic FreeCharge that charges up your USB-connected devices each time you take your bicycle out for a spin. This tiny, silicone-encased box will be connected to your bicycle's generator hub, where it is built around a battery that has generic circuitry to smooth out spikes and dips in the FreeCharge's output to make sure your device gets consistent juice without getting fried. A full charge will take around 3 hours of cycling, and we guess this is good enough for those who would love to take long cycling trips and make sure that their iPod remains juiced up to provide more inspirational tunes to the rider. The BioLogic FreeCharge is tipped to be released in March next year for approximately $100.
