The latest iPhone OS 3.1.3 update doesn’t really give you any significant benefit, unless you need the improved accuracy of the reported battery level. Of course, if you did install the update, and still want to jailbreak your iPhone, you’ll be happy to know that the Dev-Team has already come up with a new version of the PwnageTool (v3.1.5 for Mac), which is compatible with the latest iPhone OS. It gets better, as the tool even preserves your iPhone’s ultrasn0w unlock and jailbroken state. The PS3 Jailbreak which was reported a while ago supposedly costs $170 while coming in a USB dongle. Well, it seems that the situation has changed now - we're talking about having a tethered smartphone being all it takes, specifically a Nokia N900 or a Palm Pre. While the USB flash drive that was supposed to jailbreak the PS3 has already undergone the ban hammer, it seems that hackers managed to mod and ported the entire process over to the N900 and the Pre. PS3 Jailbreak Code Released To The Public

It's probably a rather stressful period of Sony's PS3 console. First we had the PSJailbreak which claimed to allow users to backup their games to a hard drive, and now a hack called PSGroove has surfaced, claiming to be an open source PSjailbreak. According to this latest hack, the code must be downloaded and installed on an AT90USBkey or Teensy USB development board, after which homebrew folks will be able to execute unsigned third-party apps and games on the PS3. Currently the ability to boot ISO files is temporarily disabled, but you can be sure that a workaround will be available pretty soon. What will Sony's response to this be? Now that a code is out in the wild, a lawsuit might not be able to keep this under wraps. PS Jailbreak Already Halted By Courts

The honeymoon for the PS Jailbreak might be over just as it started as Sony was granted a temporary ban on the PS Jailbreak in Australia that will prevent the device from being sold in the country until a decision from the courts is made. Apparently Sony also will also be handed the existing stock of the devices, giving the company a pretty good chance to go through it and figure out how to prevent it from being used in the future. The PS Jailbreak allows users to copy games into the internal hard drive or external hard drives, something that Sony isn't keen on allowing users to do. That being said, the PS Jailbreak is also sold in other countries, such as Canada, US, and Europe, though it wasn't mentioned if sales of the device will continue on those locations. Now rumor is going around that the firmware update has been delayed slightly as Apple is busy working to patch the hole that was recently used to jailbreak iOS 4. Yosion Apple Peel 520 Turns Your iPod Touch Into An iPhone

While the iPod touch wasn't designed to make cellular phone calls, it would be pretty cool if you could turn it into an iPhone. The folks over at Yosion seem to think that they can, with a product cheekily dubbed Apple Peel 520. It's powered by an Infineon baseband chip, and offers voice calling and text messaging services by allowing you to fit a regular SIM card into it, though you'll probably need to jailbreak the iPhone in order to get the necessary applications in. Aside from granting the device cellular connectivity, the device also doubles up as an 800mAh battery that gives the iPhone an additional 4.5 hours of talk time, or 120 hours of standby time. Word is that the Apple Peel 520 will be available sometime this week from $44 to $74, though some folks who remain skeptical about its authenticity as there isn't an official website or compatibility list released just yet. WiFiSync should have existed a long time ago. Created by Greg Hughes, it uses two programs - desktop app and an iPhone app - to sync your iPhone wirelessly. I was able to sync music, movies, and info quickly and easy, just by pressing "Sync" in iTunes. The app costs $9.99 on the Cydia store. The iPad has not been out officially for a couple of days yet, but the folks over at the iPad iPhone Dev Team has already posted a video which demonstrates a working iPad jailbreak technique. Who would have thought that the file system security would be toppled in a blink of an eye? Perhaps this is the first step that could see non-sanctioned iPad apps installed which could potentially enable “pirate” functionality similar to true background multitasking. Sony Playstation 3 Hacked By Father Of iPhone Jailbreak

You may or may not know George Hotz (Geohot), but he’s the father of the iPhone Jailbreak, so if you’re running a jailbroken iPhone, you know who to thank. The PS3 has been around for a good 3 years, and so far it seems that nobody else has managed to hack the console. Geohot took a whole 5 weeks to get the job done. According to his blog, he’s currently got read/write access to the entire system memory and HV level access to the processor. Aside from that, he’s also managed to get hold of dumps of the LV0 and LV1 and the NAND without removing it or using a modchip. It’s certainly going to be interesting to see what else he’s going to do with it. At this point in time, he’s also managed to grab a bunch of function names, which is cool.
