While it’s not explicitly mentioned, you have to wonder whether the latest promotional video of the HP Slate is taking digs at Apple’s newly launched iPad. The video clip (after the jump) doesn’t mention anything about specs, pricing or availability, but it does remind us that the device supports SD cards, as well as USB connectors, something which isn’t available on the iPad by default. The funny thing is, the HP Slate seems to be running iTunes (which is fine) and the USB cable that’s plugged into the device looks awfully similar to Apple’s iPhone USB cable. Strobeshnik Hard Drive Clock

If you can’t figure out what to do with your old hard drives lying around the floor, you could always try and emulate what modder Svofski has done. Dubbed the Strobeshnik, it’s a hard drive that’s been turned into a clock that uses a stroboscopic effect to make it look like the numbers on the clock are persistent on the face of the drive platter, when in reality the platter is spinning very fast. The set of LEDs behind the platter, coupled with a custom controller circuit creates the effect you see in the video (below). When it first starts up, the numbers don’t mean anything, but when it works itself up to speed, it does look quite cool. The funny thing is, this clock’s platter spins counter-clockwise, which seems rather ironic for a clock. Video after the jump. This brain computer interface (BCI) will require you to wear a pretty funny looking BCI cap requires you to wear a funny looking BCI cap which is capable of measuring electrophysiological signals like the Electroencephalogram (EEG) or Electrocorticogram (ECoG). HTC's naming conventions are kind of funny. I was almost hoping that after the Hero they'd call this the HTC Ninjastar or the HTC Hobo, but sadly it ended up being the Tattoo. The Tattoo runs the Sense UI, which is great and it has a 3.2 megapixel camera, 3.5mm headset jack, and MicroSD memory slot.
